Brompton Carpet Cleaning Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Brompton Carpet Cleaning in recognition of our responsibility to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in any of our supply chains.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Brompton Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and upholstery cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. Our primary activities include on site cleaning, stain treatment, and related maintenance services. We rely on a network of suppliers for cleaning products, equipment, workwear, and certain subcontracted services such as specialist repairs and maintenance.
While our direct workforce is relatively small and locally based, we recognise that our supply chains may extend to higher risk sectors or geographies. We therefore take proportionate steps to identify, assess, and manage the potential risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in those supply chains.
Zero Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero tolerance approach to all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, and exploitation. This applies to our own operations, our employees, subcontractors, and our suppliers at every level of the supply chain.
Brompton Carpet Cleaning will not knowingly engage with, or continue to work with, any individual, organisation, or supplier involved in modern slavery practices. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy will be treated seriously and may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship, as well as reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect our suppliers and business partners to uphold the same high standards that we apply to ourselves. As part of our supplier onboarding and review processes, we assess suppliers for their approach to labour practices, worker welfare, and compliance with applicable laws, including those relating to modern slavery and human trafficking.
Where appropriate and proportionate to the risk, we conduct supplier audits or request evidence of their own policies, statements, and due diligence activities. We may ask suppliers to complete questionnaires about their employment practices, supply chain transparency, and mechanisms for addressing labour concerns. We prioritise closer scrutiny of higher risk categories such as overseas sourcing, low skilled labour, and outsourced cleaning or logistics services.
Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing
Brompton Carpet Cleaning encourages all employees, subcontractors, and suppliers to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or unethical labour practices. Concerns may include indicators such as restricted freedom of movement, withholding of wages or documents, or evidence of coercion or exploitation.
Reports can be made to management or through our internal reporting processes. We are committed to handling all concerns sensitively, confidentially where possible, and without fear of retaliation. We will investigate all reports promptly and take appropriate action, which may include engagement with the supplier, suspension of work, or referral to external agencies where necessary.
Training and Awareness
We seek to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, particularly those involved in procurement, supplier management, and site supervision. This includes providing guidance on recognising signs of exploitation and understanding how to escalate concerns.
By promoting awareness and responsibility at all levels of the business, we aim to reduce the risk of modern slavery in our operations and to contribute to wider efforts to eradicate such practices.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management of Brompton Carpet Cleaning. Modern slavery risks and controls are reviewed at least annually, or more frequently if there are significant changes in our business activities, supply chains, or the regulatory environment.
Each year, we review the effectiveness of our measures, including our supplier assessments, auditing approach, reporting mechanisms, and staff awareness. Where necessary, we update our policies, processes, and contractual requirements to strengthen our response to emerging risks.
This Modern Slavery Statement is approved by the management of Brompton Carpet Cleaning and will be reviewed and updated annually to reflect our ongoing commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains.
